Owner Auto-Biography - Paul Freese
I was born and raised in Batesville, IN, residing there still along with my wife, Laura, and sons Eric, 21, Kyle, 19 and Levi, 18 months. My first car was a 68 GTO purchased in 1983. Little did I know that car would set a path my life would follow. I still own the car today, now in pro-street trim. Of course, many GTO's and Pontiacs would follow!
I worked at Batesville Tire in high school, and upon graduation was hired as a technician at Batesville Chrysler. After 10 years there, I became Service Manager of Heritage Motors in Shelbyville, IN. That was followed by stints at numerous Chrysler dealerships. Tired of the dealership roller-coaster, I took my ASE Master Certification and my Gold Chrysler Technician status and went out on my own in 2002.
Cars were never just a means of transportation to me, they were always something much more. I was never happy simply maintaining and repairing cars that were boring to me. Opening FAST gave me the opportunity to do the kind of work that keeps me wanting to go to work everyday. Growing pains led to the opening of a second shop, and ultimately to health issues that darn near killed me!
This Pontiac addiction has rubbed off on my family. My brother Dale and his sons, Evan and Alex, own at least a half dozen Pontiacs. My nephew Doug has a fleet of his own. My sons both have their own classic Pontiacs. My neice Sheri and her husband Brian have a GTO as well.
We organize the local Batesville car show as well as judging numerous other nearby shows. Doug, Kyle and I have have helped with the Concours Program for the GTOAA National Conventions since 2005. 2010 in Charleston we assisted in the POCI Points Judging. We also judge at the Trans Am Nationals each year. I am the 68-9 POCI Tech Advisor, Doug serves as the 70-72 Tech Advisor. Anything that we can do to help out the hobby!
